1) The proposal submission deadline for the Advanced Technologies and Instrumentation(ATI) program is November 1st annually, at 5:00 PM local time of the submitting organization.
Note, however, by GPG Chap I . F.3 (p. I-6): "If the deadline date falls on a weekend, it will be extended to the following Monday."
2) There is no program solicitation for the ATI program. Proposals to the ATI program should be submitted in response to the NSF Grant Proposal Guide (GPG), contained within the Proposal and Award Policies and Procedures Guide (PAPPG), available at:http://www.nsf.gov/publications/pub_summ.jsp?ods_key=gpg.
Recent policies described in the PAPPG mandate new requirements on postdoctoral mentoring and on the establishment of data management plans that will affect most Principal Investigators. We urge all prospective PIs to review the new PAPPG carefully. Failure to meet these new requirements will result in proposals being returned without review.
3) Proposals for advanced instrumentation and computational infrastructure, and software development to support such hardware, are appropriate but must be directly relevant to the field of astronomy.
