McLaren Lecture Symposium is held annually on the Rutgers University Engineering Campus and is sponsored jointly by the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and the Ceramics Association of New Jersey (CANJ). CANJ is a non-profit organization that seeks to promote dialog, technical exchange, and community among students, engineers, scientists, and technicians engaged in all facets of the materials technology. Originally founded as the clay-workers society in the early 1900’s, and with a strong focus on industrial ceramics in the post-war period, CANJ now encompasses the full range of materials technologies.
